Text Box: Health Guidelines
In consideration of others, please do not bring sick children to the classrooms. We will not dispense medications from classrooms.
Your child is contagious and should be kept home if he/she has had any of the following symptoms within the last 24 hours:
Significant, questionable rash
A frequent bad cough
An excessive amount of clear or colored nasal discharge.
Diarrhea or vomiting
Fever greater than 100.5
Been diagnosed as having common childhood illness
An infected, “mattered” or “pink eye”
Head lice (all nits must be gone)
These guidelines are enforced for all children in order to protect each child in our care.
Injury Policy
If a child has an accident or is injured while in our care, an accident form will be filled out and kept on file in the Children’s Ministry Office. Parents will be notified immediately if the injury was to the head, might require medical attention, causes the child to become extremely upset, results in immediate bruising or otherwise determined.
Evacuation Guidelines
Evacuation procedures are posted in each classroom. Regular “drills” will be practiced.
Text Box: Safety First!
We want you to know that your children are being cared for safely!
We strive to maintain clean equipment and toys, proper teacher to child ratios and consistent implementation of policy.
Check-In
Classrooms open 15 minutes prior to the service time.
Both Grade School and Early Childhood parents utilize a two-part name tag system when dropping off and picking up their children.
The number on the tag is also the parent’s call number for that particular Sunday.
Please check each of your children in each Sunday morning—even older Grade School children.
Utilize the Allergy stickers provided at check-in if your child has a food allergy. Snacks are provided on Sunday morning.
When you return to pick up your children, please return the parent portion of the tag to your child’s teacher.
Children will not be dismissed to siblings.
When you pick up your children in their classrooms, please stand at the door in the hallway. The teachers will get your child for you.
All of our Children’s Ministry Volunteers are screened and are regular attendees of our church.
Text Box: Discipline Policy
The following procedures will be used:
Time out: If necessary, a child will be asked to sit aside to think about his/her behavior; the amount of time should be one minute per one year of age.
A talk with a Children’s Ministry Director: Sometimes a child needs to be removed from the room for a period of time to talk over his/her behavior.
Parent Notification: The parent will be called out of the service or class if the behavior warrants, reoccurs or is unchanged. At that time, a discussion with the teacher, director and parents will determine when the child may return to the class.
At Greenville Free Methodist Church, it is NEVER ACCEPTABLE to use demeaning words, humiliation or spanking as a way to discipline while under our care.
Snacks
The Early Childhood department serves a snack on Sunday morning, usually consisting of goldfish crackers, animal cookies or pretzels. Grade School kids are given a snack following Kids Church. There is usually a sweet or salty choice (cookies or crackers).
Occasionally, treats will be brought in for a special
