Greg Groves
Greg is the Associate Pastor to youth at the Greenville Free Methodist
Church and has served in that position since January of 1987. He
and his wife, Sue, have four children; Stephen, Hannah, Sarah, and
Silas. They live at 615 E. South in Greenville and their phone is

Pastor Groves is a graduate of Greenville College ('80) with a
B.S. degree in secondary education (math & physics). He also
has a Master of Divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary
('87) and he specialized in Greek and New Testament studies. He
was ordained in the Free Methodist Church in 1987 and was elected
to Elders orders in 1989. His training in youth ministry includes
Foundations, Strategy, Advanced 1 & 2 in SonLife training and
he is also a Foundations Trainer for SonLife and our denomination.
Greg began working with youth in 1977 when he became Director of
the Young Teen program in the Greenville Free Methodist Church.
He became part-time staff in that position in 1979 and then on graduation
in 1980 was hired full time in that role (and also directed the
youth choir). After three more years as Director of Young Teens,
he went to seminary at Asbury. After one year in seminary he did
a full year internship at the Ypsilanti Free Methodist Church. There
Greg worked primarily with young adults and in Christian Education.
After returning to finish seminary, he was hired in 1987 in his
current position.
Pastor Greg has served as the chair of the youth camping committee
for the Gateway Conference and also as a member of the National
Student Ministries Team (NSMT) for our denomination. He is currently
the secretary of our annual conference and the Board of Administration,
a member of the Life Line Homes Board and the Gateway Retreat Center
Board, and the local junior high 7th grade boys basketball
coach. He also teaches one course at Greenville College. Pastor
Gregs passions include basketball, backpacking, biking, and
playing with his children.
